Everybody can get a beautiful smile without spending thousands on professional or in-house whitening treatments. There are quite a few natural whitening treatments that can help improve the appearance of your teeth and make you feel great!
Here are some simple ways to naturally whiten your teeth. I'm pretty sure most of us have heard about the whitening and great cleaning properties of baking soda. But also practicing oil pulling and using coconut oil as a replenishing tooth mask can also help. Turmeric powder also has some similar properties to baking soda. Eating healthy also helps your gums and tooth enamel stay in peak condition. Some fruits and vegetables even have whitening properties! Simple foods and drinks like coffee, wine and tomatoes can easily stain your teeth. Preventing tooth stains will also help your smile seem brighter.
1. Baking Soda
Baking soda is great for cleaning and whitening your teeth but, you should do it in moderation to avoid any enamel damage. Taking a small pinch of baking soda and rubbing along your teeth will exfoliate and whiten the tooth surface. You could also mix the baking soda with hydrogen peroxide or sea salt for even better results.
Baking soda will gently polish away stains on the surface of the teeth. Some people worry that baking soda could be too harsh and grind away enamel but, research from a couple of years ago found it to be a convenient and safe way to remove surface stains.
Baking soda also helps to fight bacteria, which adds to the properties that help it reduce plaque and eventually prevent tooth decay.
2. Oil Pulling with Coconut Oil
Oil pulling is a phrase used to describe washing your mouth gently with an oil to remove dirt, bacteria, and small debris. This cleaning is another excellent way to enhance the appearance of your teeth naturally! Coconut oil has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, making it great for whitening your teeth and killing the harmful bacteria in your mouth. This method is very easy, just rinse the mouth with oil for a minute after brushing and swish around some water to erase the residue.
Other oils suitable for this remedy include sesame oil and sunflower oil.
3. Whitening with Fruits
Papaya fruit contains an enzyme that helps to whiten teeth. Papain and bromelain, are enzymes that occur naturally in papayas and pineapples and they both help to whiten teeth. Also, Who doesn't love strawberries? They taste great, and they also have tooth whitening power! Strawberries contain a potent natural compound known as malic acid, this acid works wonders on tooth enamels! This remedy only requires you to mash fresh strawberries to use in place of toothpaste. Be sure to rinse after though to prevent any staining, then follow up with your regular toothpaste! Using this remedy 1-2 times per week can help you whiten your teeth and spark your confidence.
4. Turmeric Powder
